As the world of technology continues to shift, Gradient Network is pioneering a decentralized computing platform that aims to give power back to the community. Unlike traditional, centralized models where computing resources are largely controlled by a few tech giants, Gradient wants to make these resources available to everyone. With Sentry Nodes, a key feature of their infrastructure, individuals can contribute to this decentralized ecosystem in a way that benefits not just the users but the entire network. The vision is clear: a computing landscape that is inclusive, accessible, and decentralized.

Understanding Gradient’s Mission
Gradient Network was born from the idea that computing power and resources should not be locked behind corporate paywalls. In today’s tech landscape, big companies control most of the infrastructure that powers everything from cloud computing to AI and digital services. This results in higher costs, limitations on who can access the best computing resources, and a lack of transparency.

Gradient wants to change that. Their approach centers around decentralization, allowing individuals to participate in the computing process by running Sentry Nodes. These lightweight, privacy-preserving nodes don’t require advanced hardware or technical knowledge. Instead, they can be run on ordinary devices — making decentralized computing available to anyone with an internet connection.

The key innovation here is that users aren’t just passive participants. By running a Sentry Node, they actively contribute to maintaining the health and security of the network, all while earning rewards. It’s a model that creates value for everyone involved.

The Role of Sentry Nodes
At the heart of Gradient’s infrastructure are Sentry Nodes — small, decentralized nodes that play a critical role in keeping the network operational. These nodes are lightweight, so they don’t drain resources from the user’s device and can even function with intermittent internet connectivity. This makes them especially accessible for users in regions with less reliable internet infrastructure.

Running a Sentry Node means you’re not just an observer but an active participant in a global network of connectivity. The nodes help ensure that computational resources remain available and decentralized. Every 10 minutes, the node performs checks and contributes to the network’s integrity, earning you rewards in return.

How Sentry Nodes Earn Rewards
Gradient Network’s reward system is one of its most innovative features. Instead of paying for computing resources from a centralized provider, users earn rewards by contributing to the network. The rewards are split into two main categories:

1. Proof-of-Availability (POA): This mechanism rewards users based on their node’s uptime. For every 10 minutes that your node is online and available, you earn 0.25 points. This encourages consistent uptime and ensures that the network remains reliable.

2. Proof-of-Connectivity (POC): POC rewards are earned when your node establishes a successful connection — or “Tap” — with another node. These connections are essential for maintaining the network’s overall connectivity and health. For every successful Tap, both nodes earn 0.75 points.

Together, these mechanisms ensure that users are actively contributing to the network’s security and reliability. The more you participate, the more you earn.

Referral Program and Account Boosts
The earning potential doesn’t stop with POA and POC rewards. Gradient also offers a Referral Program, allowing you to invite others to join the network. When a referred user’s node reaches 72 hours of uptime, the referrer earns 20 points. Additionally, users earn a 10% bonus on the POA and POC rewards of both their primary and secondary referees, providing ongoing incentives to grow the network.

Beyond the basic rewards, Gradient has introduced Account Boosts to further encourage long-term engagement. Users can accumulate Experience Points (EXP) by completing achievements, such as maintaining uptime or making successful Taps. As users gain more EXP, they climb through different Account Status levels, ranging from Iron to Diamond. Each level comes with additional reward boosts, up to a 10% increase in overall earnings.

The Browser Extension: Simple and Accessible
One of the standout features of the Gradient Network is the Sentry Node Chrome Extension, which lowers the barrier to entry significantly. Unlike traditional decentralized networks, which often require technical know-how or specialized hardware, Gradient’s browser extension makes it easy for anyone to participate.

The Chrome extension turns your browser into a fully functional Sentry Node with just a few clicks. Once installed, the extension runs in the background, performing tasks like establishing connections with other nodes and tracking uptime. It’s an entirely passive process — users don’t need to monitor or manage the extension once it’s set up.

Despite its simplicity, the extension offers full visibility into your node’s performance. Users can track their uptime, check their connectivity status, and see how many rewards they’ve earned — all from within the extension’s dashboard. It also provides a direct interface for managing referral bonuses and account status.

Partnership with Solana Foundation
Gradient Network is not acting alone in its mission to decentralize computing. The platform is closely aligned with the Solana Foundation, which supports high-performance decentralized infrastructure for Web3 technologies. Solana, known for its fast transaction speeds and low costs, is the ideal partner for Gradient as it aims to scale its decentralized compute network.

This partnership leverages Solana’s blockchain expertise to ensure that Gradient’s infrastructure can handle the increasing demands of AI, edge computing, and other digital services. Together, they aim to create a decentralized, scalable infrastructure that can support the next generation of internet applications.

The Importance of Decentralized Computing
Why does decentralized computing matter? As the internet becomes more integral to daily life, control over computing resources is becoming increasingly centralized. Major tech companies dominate the cloud computing space, which leads to higher prices, limited access, and a lack of transparency. Centralized infrastructure is also vulnerable to outages, security breaches, and censorship.

By decentralizing these resources, Gradient is creating a more resilient and equitable infrastructure. With Sentry Nodes distributed across the globe, the network becomes more robust, and the power to access and contribute to computational resources is shared by many, not controlled by a few.

Edge computing, a key part of Gradient’s strategy, is another crucial piece of the puzzle. By moving computational power closer to the data source — whether that’s a user’s device or a nearby server — Gradient can reduce latency and improve the overall efficiency of digital services. This makes the network faster, more secure, and more cost-effective for users and developers alike.

The Future of Gradient Network
Gradient Network is not just about decentralizing computing — it’s about creating a future where anyone can contribute to and benefit from global compute resources. As AI, edge computing, and digital services continue to evolve, the demand for affordable and scalable infrastructure will only grow. Gradient is positioned to meet this demand by offering a decentralized, peer-to-peer alternative to traditional, centralized models.

For those interested in being a part of this revolution, joining the Sentry Node Open Beta is a unique opportunity. By running a node, users can help build the infrastructure of tomorrow while earning rewards for their participation.
